The background eraser offers an AI cutout for general subjects and a multi-point local fallback. The result is a PNG with transparency, plus live background previews for checking difficult edges.
How the result is produced
- AI mode runs an IS-Net segmentation model in the browser and outputs a transparent PNG.
- Local mode uses one or more foreground points to build a connected foreground selection instead of removing only the clicked color.
- Sensitivity, feather and cleanup controls adjust inclusion and edge softness.
- Checker, solid-color and custom-color previews reveal halos before download.
Good uses

How to verify the result
- Preview against both light and dark backgrounds.
- Zoom in around hair, transparent objects and narrow gaps.
- Add foreground points in disconnected areas when local mode misses part of the subject.
Known limitations
- Fine hair, motion blur, glass and low-contrast edges can need manual cleanup.
- The AI model download is sizeable and may fail on restricted networks or low-memory devices.
- Local selection is image-based segmentation, not a full manual masking editor.
